Faux Tortoise?

I've been in a big V-Pick experimentation mode lately, and I've found a few that work for me. There's one that I just got called the Jalapeno, and it just knocked me out. Someone told me that he found this to be the closest thing to a real tortoise pick he's come across. I've never played a tortoise pick, but the Jalapeno does have it's own characteristics (different from other V-Picks and certainly different from other brands' offerings). It has a low level of pick noise (click) for an acrylic blend pick; and it lends some extra bass and mids to the tone. For lack of a better term, it's "muscular" sounding, with a very solid, but not too bright, attack. Just thought I would share. I've been using several different V-Picks on my different guitars (Screamer, Medium Rounded, and Pointed Ulltra Light for acoustic). But I'm just about ready to make this my electric pick, period.

Re: Faux Tortoise?

I've heard people say that Ultex is the closest sounding to actual tortoise shell as you can legally get but I wouldn't know per say I've never played real tortoise shell. I know I like the clarity of dunlop Ultex picks especially the sharp tip ones. The tip on the one in the picture looks to round for my taste.
