People are going to hate me for this, but aren´t "Shred Guitar" and "Tone" kind of mutually exclusive?? I don´t mean to be insulting, but every shredder I know sounds thin to my ears.....

You know, I've always thought the same thing except pertucci's tone on 'train of thought'.

I say Paul Gilbert because he can shred like the greats, but can do them in some great songs. That just sets him apart from others as he combines other genres to still include shredding as a part of them.
