Hey, there,
I love my 60's blackface bassman head. also my blues jr., also my fender hot rod deluxe. I use celestion g-12 and celestion g-30 at the same with any amp I use. I just undo the inner spkr. and set the amp on top of my speakers. homemade black semi cubes. looks cool too. it's a 4 ohm load but my amps have never had a problem, and these amps I have are very forgiving.

Fender Princeton Reverb
Fender Deluxe Reverb
Fender Super Reverb
Fender Twin Reverb

...and so on and so forth. Basically, any blackface Fender.

Also:

Ampeg V2 and VT40
Ampeg V4 and VT22
Ampeg Gemini
Ampeg Jet

...and so on. Most '60's and '70's Ampegs have amazing overdriven sounds.

I imagine playing a Zinky here in California would seem a lot colder, since it's not freezing here. Maybe it's just a relative thing; Maybe the Zinky is like...60 degrees warm. It's come off very SS here in the balmy Sac area.

We literally have to light Blue Juniors on fire to get any more warmth out of our amps here. Then we get fined for a fire on a no-burn day. Rockin out has it's hidden costs.

Since you are in Cal because of this guess you guys do need some thing to cool you off a little.

Trade problems with you as ours straightened out in 2 days you guys may glow in the dark for a few thousands years so---.

So many answers which is great. I decided to grab that Avatar 18w with 6v6's. I have 10 days to decide on if I like it or not.

Pretty excited, love testing and playing new amps. I need to try it thru a few different cabs, right now I play thru a closed 2x12, 1 G12H30 and V30.

Probably not the best speaker combo for this head or the sound I want, but all good.

The adventure continues..

I have learned that I do not want to be in a car with Dr. Michio Kaku when a check engine light goes on because you're going to end up in a river with physicist screaming for a fireman because an O2 sensor went off.
