Since we had to do Gibson, it's only fair Fender gets a chance too. And if you pick one of the "obvious" answers I expect a lengthy and detailed explanation as to why it's better than the more niche models.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

for me, its strat and tele. started on a strat and they have always felt like home to me. the tele also does it for me. some of the other models are ok but nothing grabs me like those two

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

Jaguars and Jazzmasters: Just no guitar more comfortable/ergonomic to me. The positioning and height of the bridge and position of trem arm are perfect, as is the balance and access on a strap. And they're gorgeous. And sound more assertive and dynamic than a Strat.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

I love the uniqueness and rich tone of all the models. I like my Strat because of how versatile it is.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

That would be the Jazz bass, which is an excellent instrument. Don't care for their guitars.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

I Like Teles and Jazzmasters a lot, but Strats are my favorites. They produce the single coil tones that are in my head.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

Tough call between the Strat and Tele, but the Strat gets my vote.

I couldn't find my tone for a long time--found it with both the Strat and Tele thru Fender Hot Rod Deluxes and Blue Deluxes. I feel more comfortable on a Strat. Sometimes my Tele gets too twangy, not something I deal with on my Strat (I've found that Bill Lawrence Tele Twin Blades are able to get twangy but also back them off when needed.)

I'm a Fender guy, amps and guitars. Gibsons sound amazing but they just don't do it for me (not bashing them at all, I love them.)

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

I flipped a coin, and the Telecaster won. Could have just as easily been the Stratocaster.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

For me, there is no more comfortable and ergonomic guitar design than the Fender Stratocaster. With a humbucker in the bridge or with a single-coil, it’s super versatile, super easy to use, super rugged, and a perfect example of why electric guitar design hasn’t changed much in six decades.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

Strats took me a while to get used to. The bridge is closer to the body than ideal for me, and too far back/near the strap button, not to mention awkward (but convenient) volume placement. I do like them though. They just feel "funny" next to other Fender guitars even though they're the standard.

There are plenty of things I really like in Jaguars, but voted Stratocaster because of the hardware design. I can't make myself like the Jaguar-type trem and bridge system.

Stratocaster also has a perfect body shape for a guitar, which I think is the other reason beside trem it's so popular design.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

I like the Strats, although I would cut down the body a bit, and use 2 humbuckers. It is pretty much my Music Man.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

Strats, since I am pretty much exclusively a superstrat player these days.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

Politely abstaining, amps... awesome, guitars... meh, take em or leave em.

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

Strat design, manufactured by G&L--Legacy, S-500, Legacy Special and Comanche.

But I loved my '68 ash-body Tele Thinline with Bigsby, too. Miss that guitar.

Jazzmaster!

Quirky things, but I find them very comfortable and versatile when set up well.

I like the way the 1meg pots darken the pickups when rolled back, and brighten a lot almost like a no-load when wide open. You can get very smooth or very biting, very quickly, just with the volume knob and the amp.
The rhythm and lead circuits give you basically another flavor of that but having it on a switch is pretty cool. You can have a quiet smooth neck pickup tone with the rhythm circuit on, a louder, brighter neck pickup tone and biting bridge tone on the lead circuit.

They have a unique vibrato system which works ok, sounds great but honestly I don't use the bar much.

They sound like... not like a strat, not like a tele, also not like a jag or mustang, but somewhere in between!

Re: Favorite Fender Model?

The awesome Telecaster. It is the Model T of guitars. You can do any mod imaginable to it to make
it sound like anything you want. It is the best platform to hot rod bar none and still remains purposeful
and true to the incredible number of reincarnations that it has transformed itself into.
