Re: favorite guitar wood?
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but is korina then almost like mahogany with a maple cap? Not as warm as mahogany? How about a korina strat-style body with a maple neck and an ebony fretboard, what would this combo produce?Neeradj said:You could've used that "your mom" choice for something else dude. I like balance and sustain, in fact I think those are the key elements to a versatile guitar. I like mahogany, but I like Korina more, it's more musical like Blueline said, it might be hard to believe in fact I sometimes have trouble believing it. Mahogany is pretty cool, sustains well, but is too warm (too much, bass and mids) to really be versatile. I think solid maple caps help it balance out, but for optimal balance get a hard maple neck as well. You'll get the best of both worlds; balance and sustain. Because I think most pick ups tend to sound bassy, and Ebony fingerboard is prefered, it's sharp crunchy and feels amazing!
I voted Mahogany w/ maple neck, because it comes closest to my ideal![]()
