Re: Favorite modulation type
I voted for flange, but I wasn't thinking of Trem as a modulation effect, for some reason. I actually like Trem the most, in fact it's the only one I have permanently on my pedal board. I got rid of all my chorus pedals a long time ago, and I only occasionaly use a flange. Most of the time I think people use way to much chorus. The right amount can make cleans sound amazing, I love Andy Summers' tones, but live most people totally wash out their tone with too much chorus. I assume that it sounds better by the players amp, or they wouldn't make it sound that way. In a reaction to this phenomenon, I quit using chorus almost completely. I still occasionaly use it for recording, but live, if I want a fatter sound, I grab my fatter sounding guitar. Tremolo on the other hand can add that cool haunting quality, without muddying up your tone. I like flanger cause it can sound so cheesy when you want it to. I always think of seveties bad country songs when I hear phaser though. I think most of those guys were using the built in phasers in Musicman amps.
That's my 2 cents
