Favorite "Tube" pedals/pre-amps for hard rock and metal?

Re: Favorite "Tube" pedals/pre-amps for hard rock and metal?

I do not really do metal, but for harder rock (no particular order) ....

Mesa V-Twin
H&K Tubeman
SD SFX-03

Silver Dragon
Butler Tube Driver (I have not used it - good reviews)
Koch Preamp Pedal - Tested it out but not own it

Hughes & Kettner usually makes my favorite heavy overdrive tones. The Tubeman and Tube Factor will do very well.

I like the metalish tones I can get from my tube screamer into the sfx-03 on lead mode. Its no 5150 or the like, but it gets the job done when im feelin metal.

I had a Tonebone and a Vox pod thingy, what are some really good alternatives?

i use an ibanez tube king. can be found on ebay for a fair price. appears that maxxon makes an expensive re-issue under a different name, and behringer is making 2 tube pedals that are likely based on the tube king circuit based on the model number ending in 999. when poking around, it looked like the bare bones one was going for like 40 bucks, which is unheard of for a tube pedal.

i always thought guyatones looked cool. word on the street is the womanizer and demonizer from damage control (dudes that used to work at line 6) are the bee's knees.
