I like Marshall sound, no surprise. But I don't gravitate towards anything. Looking around the room there is Mesa, Marshall, Peavey, H&K, Fender, Roland....

Still using my Cornford’s even though I have been tempted away a couple of times only to realise that I made a mistake.

Mesa/Boogie. I have played only a handful of them, but each one seems to do its own highly musical, authentic thing.

I have come back around to them recently. I always liked them, I just went in other directions for a long while. I wish I would have kept all the old ones I had at one time. I am now trying to find them all again.

Which ones have you played and which ones do you like and are you looking for one to get? I am always on the hunt for certain ones.

I have a few amp products from Tech 21. They sound so good plugged into a PA system that I still keep them around, even having a Fractal.

I'm a big fan of Cornford. I love my Rchie Kotzen amp and regret selling my MK50 and Hellcat.

I’d love a Kotzen but they are hard to find now and when they do come up they’re so expensive. I use a Hurricane at home and smaller gigs ( well I used to... lol) and a very early black chassis MK50 for regular gigs. I have also had a MK50 mark 2 and a Hellcat head.... wish I’d still got the Hellcat but not so much the MK2.

I had always wanted a Mesa MKV and finally got one a few months ago. I got the combo as a do it all 1 stop package but wished I’d got the head only. Compared to my other amps it always sounded boxy, it sounded much better when plugged into a big box but it was supposed to me my gigging amp and I wasn’t going to lug the heavy ass combo and a cab everywhere. I sold that after just 6 weeks, I did put a lot of hours into that amp but just could not find what i wanted except for the awesome clean channel.

Those black chassis 50's were something else! I love the Kotzen and am always looking for them but haven't seen one for sale in years. I think I got mine in 2014 but would gladly buy more of them if I saw them.

I am sorry to hear about the Mesa. Back when I was a kid Mesa was my go to amp and I had several. I ended up getting rid of most of them (very regrettably now) and went with many other companies through the years. I have recently fallen in love with them again and started chasing after the old models I got rid go. The Mark V is a wonderful amp. They take some time to mess with but the sounds are definitely in there for just about anything a person would be wanting. I never have been one to have any luck with a combo amp aside from a JC 120...lol. I can't ever get a tone I like from a combo. I am a 4x12 cab and a head player and that is all I have found that works for me.

Did you ever get a chance to try the Triple Crown? A lot of people dog that amp but I think it is fantastic and has a ton of beautiful clean, low to mid gain tones and of course a great heavy tone. The power scaling feature is nice on the 100 watt so you can play it whisper quiet and still get a nice sound.

Revv Amplification is my go to right now. I recently acquired a Generator 120 MK3 and man this thing is insane. It can basically do any sound i need and has the built in Two Notes can sims and load box. has an amazing noise gate, plus reverb. Its unlike anything i have ever experienced.

Super cool amp for sure. I was going to grab one but I missed out. I will definitely get one when they get back in stock. I can't imagine you not being able to do anything tone wise you could want to with that amp. Epic for sure!

Yeah the black chassis MK’s are great, very ballsy and authorities... the gain is clean but dirty and the note separation make it very unforgiving. But once mastered it’s a massive plus especially in a band setting. This is my second one, which is earlier than the first and I have Philips NOS Tubes in it. Like you I still favour 4 x 12’s and do have a Kotzen black one along with a couple of Marshall’s and an old Orange that I re-covered along with a spare Cornford head box in Marshall white levant.

Regarding the Mesa, I will revisit them at some point and get either a MKIV head, MK5 head or may be a JP head. Time will tell I guess regarding my. Band. I haven’t really looked into any other Mesa’s at this point as I think the models I mentioned will be fine in a head box.

I may also look at a Friedman BE as 8 recently got a BE pedal which absolutely slays. As an old git, I still live in the past and play a lot of Y&T, Whitesnake, VH, MSG etc and I find the BE can get me there and still sound very open and airy.

The BE 100 is a great amp. I enjoy mine and it does that 80's stuff you mentioned very well. The BE pedal is a great pedal. The Mesa Petrucci amp is a great amp as is the Mark IV. Both hard to come by at the moment. I will be getting a JP when they hit Sweetwater again next month. Another amp I am waiting is the Revv G120 MK3. Wonderful amp!
