I realise that posting a thread about headstocks here is a bit like going to the Playboy forums and posting about foot fetishes but I've seen a lot of threads about new guitars where guys have said stuff like, "Yeah, that looks awesome...I could never get over the headstock shape, though".

So, they obviously matter and we should definitely have a thread about'em. Post your favourites.

I, for one, think that the classic Strat shape is pretty hard to beat but, unlike a lot of people, I don't really have a preference between the bigger or smaller, pre-CBS or after.

I'm also a complete sucker for these babies...

For me #1 will always be a gibson custom headstock.

I love my 'bergers, but I also like the Ernie Ball/Music Man and Brian Moore 4+2 headstocks.

I like the 4+2 headstocks, too.

Also, with regard to the headless Steinbergers, I always thought the design &
function of the Kubicki Ex-Factor and Factor basses was cool--move the little
arm off the E string with your thumb, mid-song--you've got an open D!

Other honorable mentions:
- Gibson Custom, Hagstrom, Ibanez John Scofield signature - and almost any 3+3 headstock with fancy binding and a nice big decal in the middle.

- Lately - the pre-CBS Fender headstock - always thought it was kind of boring but I'm warming up to it.

- The Peavey Wolfgang - the only black headstock that looks well with a maple fretboard. It's just a really good looking design - unlike the new Wolfgangs...
