I'm pretty sure i'm going to buy an aerodyne tele pretty soon into the new year guys, has anyone got any experience with them? played a few teles in a shop, and i loved the stock sound and feel of the one they had..

they have a P90 in the neck, and they hold up the japanese reputation for quality :smokin:

anyone own/owned/want one? any experiences?

I love Fender Aerodynes...but it's not as cool as the 72 deluxe if you ask me. too 'modern' y'know? but to some people modern is cool and not many guitars have a P90/tele set-up.

I always wanted a guitar with that pup set up but don't know about the body wood. Basswood. Most p90's come in mahogany bodies so it might not sound the same. Wouldn't mind trying one of them tough :)

Re: Fender Aerodyne Tele... Thoughts?

I've played a couple this year and came damn close to buying one, but I had just purchased a G&L ASAT a few weeks earlier and couldn't justify the cost at the time.

Anyway, absolutely amazing guitar! Very well made, balance is good, and sounds great. The lightly arched top works well with my style, since I'm a Les Paul player mostly. The pickup configuration sounds great too - bridge and middle settings are all Tele, and the neck setting is fat like an LP Special.

One of the Aerodynes I played had wiring issues, where the neck pickup would cut out intermittently. I have read on other forums that this is a known issue, and it usually gets repaired at the dealer. If you can handle a soldering iron, you could fix it yourself too.

One may be in the cards for 2006. Stay tuned...

They're not bad, but I would personally gut the electronics (in favor of a SM-1/STL-2 combo) and get a nice steele 3 saddle bridge.

Why can't we get a Tele (non Squire...) with 2 P-90s!!!!! Do I have to build one myself!!

Fender had 2 different Tele's a few years ago...both with P-90's...both of them were very unpopular...both were discontiunued...surf Ebay...get them CHEEP!

One of them was kind of like the current Squier, the other was a mahogany body, set mahogany neck with a rosewood board, 12 inch radius, fat frets 24 3/4 scale, tone chambers, 2 Duncan P-90's...it was more or less a tele that thought it was a Les Paul Jr...in fact it was called a Tele Jr...they are KILLER guitars, I've been looking for one off and on for years...

My band played after another band on a concert here in Stavanger, and the lead guitarist played one of those, and it sure had a great tone!

Re: Fender Aerodyne Tele... Thoughts?

the only thing that i don't like about the aero tele(and strat) is the fingerboard radius. 7.25" radius is too small for me(not good for bending with low action). i could've consired it if it has at least 9.5" radius.
