Fender Bassman Ri

Re: Fender Bassman Ri

Thanks for the link. What's the difference between this kit and say Jensen P10R's or Weber speakers. Also, for an early 90's Bassman RI, what's the speaker ohms? I assume they're 8 ohms.

Re: Fender Bassman Ri

I will say this right off...I wouldn't put "reissue" Jensen C10Q's in anything. IMO those are terrible speakers. A 50's Tweed Bassman should have (or woudl have had new in the 50's) 4 Jensen P10R...these are alnico speakers, not ceramic like the C10R. Also, IMO even a cheep (signature series) Weber is WORLDS better than ANY of the "reissue" Jensen speakers. If I had a reissue Bassman and wanted it to be as close to an original I would get 4 Weber 10A100T speakers for it however if you wanted killer tone AND to be able to really crank it and get killer tone out of it you might consider replacing 2 of those 10A100T's with 2 Weber 10F125's...no it's not vintage correct but it'll kick more butt than ever before!

Also, keep in mind that the early 90's Bassman reissues (the NON LTD models) were in terrible (IMO) plywood cabs with MDF baffles...so no matter what tubes and speakers you put in them they will not sound as good (again, IMO) as an LTD which IMO is still worlds away from an original tweed Bassman OR a HIGH QUALITY clone.
