Fender champs: Can one get great clean tones?

Hey all,

Can one get good clean tones from a Fender champ, either silverface or blackface (I've heard they sound the same with the champ model).

yes, but not at a practical volume - it's only about 5 watts

all Fender amps, including the Champ, up through the blackface designs were designed for clean tone. As music changed, players found those amps sounded great cranked. The Champ is no exception. Yes, you can get a clean sound, but they really excel with an overdriven tone.
