Fender EC amps

Re: Fender EC amps

Internet search got me this:

I understand that they are going to be pretty expensive...

Re: Fender EC amps

*tangent* I'm sure these are awesome amps, but good lord, who would want to emulate EC's recent plink plink tones? There are dozens of strat players who sound so much better in this day & age.

Considering the fact that he was THE man to put incredible electric blues and heavy rock guitar tones on the map, it's heartbreaking to me whenever I see/hear his more recent work.

FWIW- Victoria does build some of the high end Gretsch amps for Fender, so it would not surprise me if they have been ghost building the high end Fenders like the tweed Twins and Deluxes, and VibroKings (or whatever that super expensive BF model is).

Re: Fender EC amps

Signature amps now? Ugh.

How many people under 30 actually even know who Eric Clapton is? To me, he's like Sting - Did his best work back when he was young and with great bands, but ever since has slipped into and even defined the "Adult Contemporary" genre. Now he's just signature whoring his name out. He's had a signature Strat for ages, then he's got a signature Les Paul, and now Fender amps? And not just ONE amp, but an entire line of them! Give me a break.

Re: Fender EC amps

The Vibro Champ equates to EC's "Layla" album sessions. I associate the Tremolux with the formative days of Blind Faith. The other one must be what he uses today.

EDIT - If anyone asks me to explain who Blind Faith were, the puppy gets it!

Yeah, with a good price hike because his name is on them.

I like his tone on Layla, on Eric Clapton, and on Slowhand. No, it's not like his tone with Mayall or Cream. But I still like it.

I wouldn't mind some EC sig amps. It doesn't mean you'll be stuck with that sound.

Re: Fender EC amps

if the twinolux is a low power tweed twin with trem that would be cool

Re: Fender EC amps

I can't wait to try them out.

1. Buy used from a rich guy who goes through gear like underwear.
2. Enjoy it for years, and keep it mint.
3. If the time comes to sell, the price goes back up to the new price or higher.
Once Fender stops making them, they become collectibles.
