Fender FSR HH Strat

Re: Fender FSR HH Strat

Fender humbuckers are usually fairly "blah" sounding. The demo tones aren't too bad, but they are typical "dark" and scratchy Fender 'bucker tones. The tapped tones aren't bad but I wouldn't say it sounds like a Strat pickup. If I got this and wanted to keep it pure Fender, I'd swap in a set of Fender-made EVH Wolfgang pups, which I think are the best-sounding buckers they make.

Thanks. I bought the guitar a couple of weeks ago but haven't been home much to play with it. I won't be back home again til Monday night.

Cool! Of course, if you like the pups, keep 'em. If you don't, try experimenting with different magnets, first. Sometimes that is all you need to make a "blah" pickup into a good one. For around $10 and 10 minutes of your time, it's worth a shot.

Re: Fender FSR HH Strat

I stumbled upon this FSR HH Strat and can't find any legit info even on Fender website. Any idea when this was made? The seller says it's brand new and made in Mexico, but I have no idea whether it's made of Alder or some other kind of woods:
