Re: fender japan closing shop?

apparently, there's a shop that imports mij fenders. we have a local fender dealer that brings in the mia, mim, and mik fender and they wrote to fender usa asking how is that possible since they are the only dealer authorized by fender for local distribution. fender's reply was that they would not be able to do anything since the fender japan factory will be closing down in 2006.

Ahh the internet rumor mill.

There never was a Fender Japan factory. They have used Fugigen and Dayna Gakki for Japanese production, and other factories in the past. Fender Japan changed its named to Dyna Boeki in order to consolodate the two import / export offices - Fender Japan and Dyna Gakki. One of my friends is a high-up manager in the company. He wrote me the following explanation of the consolidation:

"It was decided that Dyna would handle the export and import business directly from now. Dyna is the factory that make the products for Fender. I'm sure that you remember visiting there about 10 years ago with me. So, the new company "DYNA BOEKI, LTD" was established, because Dyna does not have export & import section."

Hopefully, that will put the rumors to rest.

I bet the workers are starting up a union :laugh2:

Re: fender japan closing shop?

So what is the exact truth about US Fenders? Fender is fairly secretive about the idea that the bodies and necks are actually manufactured in Mexico, then trucked into the US for assembly and setup??? Round and round we go, where's the truth...nobody knows!

The way it sounded to me was that Fuji Gen was going to consentrate on their own house brands.
Greco and Fujigen.
