Fender Katana?

I found one in a pawn shop the other day for $100. For some reason I just can't get that ugly guitar out of my mind. Does anyone know much about them? Were they good guitars?

This one has seen better days, but I've worked miracles on lesser guitars. I may just have to go get this thing.

I like Kitana, I don't know Katana...

I played on in the 80's and got rid of it because I didn't like how it hung on my body. The way it sat I found myself two frets sharp a lot of the time. It was not an easy transition from my superstrats to the Fender. On top of that there was nothing earth shattering about the way it played it just looked cool (for the era).

Did it feel even remotely similar to a V?

Get it. They only made them for a couple years, you may never see another one. Plus it's a Fender, everything bolts together so you can mod it to your liking, then put it back to stock later and sell it to a collector.

I don't need something like that, but that would be intriguing, even if only as a collectible conversation piece.

The Squier version of this was my first guitar and I played it for years. Still have the body and reappropriated the neck for a different guitar. Mine has a very narrrow nut width.

I'd buy it for a $100...especially if it is a Fender and not a Squier.

As much as I was not impressed with the guitar for $100 yes I would give it another go.

This one is the Fender version. I think I'm going swing by the pawn shop today and have another, more thorough look at it. May just bring it home.
