Looking for new speaker for my Fender pro jr. I just got the amp so its still stock and this is my first tube amp. im using a Ibanez sz520 with seymour duncan whole lotta love humbuckers. Im looking for a vintage tone from the 60s and 70s. But dont know what kind of speaker to upgrade to. So any help would be great. And if yall have any other comments on any mods or tubes would help alot.

Re: Fender pro jr speaker

hard to beat the eminence "ragin cajun" in a small amp.
Id recommend playing thru it stock for a few months to get a really good feel for the amp tho and youll get a better picture of whether it does the job, or if there are certain aspects of its sound you would like to change.

Re: Fender pro jr speaker

Is the stock speaker that bad?. I read that Ted Weber designed that speaker for the Pro Jr. for Eminence to manufacture. I picked one up cheap to see if it is any good, but haven't tried it yet. I think the first thing I would do is try some good tubes in the amp, and let the speaker break in for a while before considering replacing it.

+1. Play it a couple weeks before doing anything to it. Let it break in, put it through its paces, see how you like it. Then you can decide what you want to change about it, including tubes.
