I'm Torn - Peavey vs Fender dilemma

I had the same problem, and I got a solution for you. My Fender Excelsior matches my living room set perfectly, but the ex-wife wasn't having it in the living room. My new fiance loves having the amp in the living room. The problem is solved.

I don't think it is the decor as much much as my lack of discipline. I'd eventually turn it on and play it while she was watching TV. Just compulsive musical urges. That would cause problems. Can't do it if it isn't there. I'm content with there being an amp everywhere else except the kitchen, the shower, and the living room...LOL.

No amp in the shower! This woman is out of control. Not only does my SO allow an amp in the bathroom, but she has also started keeping a toaster next to the tub. I guess she wants to make sure I am all set if I want a snack while I am playing.

i dont have any amps in the living room. usually one electric guitar though. i have two guitar amps setup in my office, a supro statesman and a tweed princeton, four amps in the garage and eight? in the basement? theres a few acoustic amps and bass amps around too. whats the worry about a little pro jr

I am also a little worried about being labeled a Peavey fanboy. I already have an Express 112 and 2 112sx cabs...

do you care? i have a tweed princeton, tweed deluxe, tweed bandmaster, bf deluxe reverb, bf pro reverb, sf dual showman reverb, musicmaster bass, hot rod deluxe, and probably more fenders im forgetting about. who cares. i also have marshall, bad cat, ampeg, gk, fishman, crate, yamaha, vox, supro, and other amps. fanboi it up if ya want

So, I have one fender amp. A little Fender Pro Jr. I don't play it that often, but I love it when I do. Just two knob straight ahead tone.

Yet...I am Jonesing hard for a Peavey Classic 30 (also in tweed).

I am proud to be the reason for your Classic 30 GAS!

I am loving mine, especially since I swapped the Blue Marvel for a Celestion UK Neo Dog. Made the amp sound better while making it 4 lbs lighter.

I honestly thought when I traded my LP Special for it that I would just sell it and keep my Mesa and Traynor. But now I got the Traynor up for sale because the Peavey is the perfect workhorse bar-gig amp for me. You are also very much correct that it is a great pedal platform. Exceeded my expectations.

I would hide the Pro Jr, tell the wife you sold it and buy a Classic 30.

The Classic series amps are one of those amps that you seemingly cannot get a bad sound out of, no matter where you set the knobs, even if it isn't the sound you use it still sounds great, I vote Peavey, there's enough Fender fanboys in this world, Peavey needs a few more! Three cheers for James Brown!

Is Peavey producing a whole lotta amps these days? I know they have their Classics, but I guess as a brand they aren't what they once were 30 years ago.

Doesn't matter if you are the fanboi of any company as long as you are a fanboi of the craft.

Agreed - I am not a brand fanboy - that's for sure. I will call crap out where I see it, as fast as throw the kudos.

And......F#@K anything Fender.

thats a bullshit statement. so many amazing tones have been made by fender amps from the 50s through today. crank a big box tweed twin, plug a les paul into it and bash an a chord. youll smile

It's just kind of a joke...it's my thing to bash fenders.... No offense meant, Bob knows I hate em and he'll get the tongue in cheek dig I'll bet.

Honestly, all of the majors, Fender, Marshall, Gibson, etc...have their cliche abuse coming to them.

But totally agree, Fender is crap. LOL. Nah....I'm just not a Fender guy.
