I'm Torn - Peavey vs Fender dilemma

Never underestimate the power of a Fender Deluxe Reverb being smacked in the pre-amp with a Rat Distortion, or a MXR 5150 for that matter.

I just tracked heavy guitars in a world class studio with P90s and a Fender Deluxe and Fender VibroKing

and it totally jives in the mix with humbuckers and a JCM and JMP from the other guitarist in a way that multiple humbucker and Marshalls would not.

Kicking a Fender can give some great untypical sounds for a Fender. I spent a couple years in a hard rock band using a Strat into a Twin. Celestions in the Twin, a Dimarzio X2N in the Strat, and a TS9 in the middle.

Re the topic, the PJ is a good amp, but I prefer the crunch with the PV Classic series. More “British” sounding to my ears. But if I had to plug into a PJ, I’d be fine.

Also, it's way easier to make good crunchy British Marshall sounds with pedal into a Fender than trying to make American Fendery clean tones with a Marshall. -so if versatility is important thats a consderation

It depends on the Marshall the DSL (2000, 40, 20) have a Nashville clean setting that is a direct lift of the Fener tone stack.

right but a tweed bassman doesnt sound much like a bf fender reverb amp. the bf amps are much more scooped than the tweed variety. i do think marshalls can sound good clean, old jtms and super bass models especially, but a plexi can do nice cleans too
