Fender Pro Reverb – Thoughts?

Anyone used these before? There is one at a local Guitar Center that I loved when I first played it...but I tried it again last night with one of my guitars and I wasn't as impressed as I was before. My first time I played it with one of GC's used original '73 Fender Strat, a cool used Carvin and a 90's Gibson Les Paul...all of them sounded amazing through it. I brought in a new Warmoth HSS and I prefered the new Fender Twin they had. lol

I really don't have a set style–most of my stuff falls under the Christian Contemporary stuff, use Strats and my acoustics through amps. Always keep coming back to Fender amps...want to love Marshalls but again, I just keep going back to Fenders. I currently have a '95 Hot Rod Deluxe and a modded new Blues Jr. III–I really love both...don't NEED another amp but the Hot Rod Deluxe's Reverb Tank went out and its gonna need some TLC...kinda want to keep something more powerful than the Blues Jr up an running. Thoughts? Suggestions?

The drive channel on these is one of Fender's better ones. The also have a loop with level controls so you can use it as a boost, and they have a quarter power switch, too. I think those were Fender's best channel switchers right up until they put out the Super Sonic series.

You are absolutely right about that–that is a big reason why I'm leaning towards buying one...that drive channel was amazing, especially with the Les Paul.

I had the gain channel modded on my Hot Rod Deluxe–works very well when I'm lazy and don't want to bring my pedals BUT...its not half as good as this Pro Reverb.

I never played a Pro Reverb. I owned a Twin Reverb and a Twin amp. The Twin amp might be what your looking for. Go check one out.

oh sorry. i must apologize. I didn't realize this was a modern channel switching model. Ive only used the A6763 style. Ive not tried one of these.
Still...i'm sure its also gonna be awesome. Two 6l6s and tube rectifier running thru two 12s. with some extra modern convenience.
It is still in a solid pine cabinet and stuff like the old ones yeah?
Can't lose really.

Oh just buy it Trey!!! Lol, J.K., but I'd definitely jump at it in a heartbeat! Then again, I may not the best person to take financial advice from? I tend to be rather impulsive sometimes but my behavior has netted me some pretty interesting things in the past!!! In all seriousness they're beautiful sounding amplifiers & I know you well enough to know that you are going to fail in love with the reverb that bleeds out of that combo!!! You just can't get that from a pedal....

Not quite as nice as my new toy :jester: but a heck of a lot easier to move around!!!

Honestly: Get a Fender Mustang III for $320.

Best $320 I've spent on an amp in many, many years.

If you're into the P&W thing you'll love it! So many tones and so much flexibility.

Sounds tremendous at low P&W volumes, but sounds tremendous cranked up too.

I had a Mustang III, Lew from just about the time they were released. Sold it for $250 locally. Lost a total of 50 bucks on it and played it a lot.

I agree it is the best modeling amp I ever touched. Plus the III has a nice easy to read LCD screen. Good speaker, open back. Lots of effects built in. You can hook it up to your PC and tweak the models even further or download and install others tweaks. It's a fine amp.

I really loved the Twin they had! But they only had a brand new one and its outside my budget... :( lol And, I'm not sure my neighbors in my apartment would like me anymore if I got one :D

You know, I don't know about the pine cab, it sure sounds killer so I'm thinking its not plywood–but this is actually the older 1x12 that has the full and partial power switch on the back...

Haha! I already knew you'd say go for it! :D GC just dropped the price by $250 so I'm a little nervous as to why...maybe to move it but they don't have that much used gear which begs "why"...but yeah, thinking really hard on it, sounds beyond amazing!

I'm a firm believer in not knocking it until you try it, I will need to try one. I love the feel of my Fender Tubes–responds so well to strumming, picking and even finger picking.

Hmm, that is awesome you can hook it up to the computer and tweak it...I do have the V-Amp2 Pro and Line 6 POD Pro though, kinda don't NEED....those aren't amps though :D
