Have any of you tried this amp? What do you think? Thanks.

If this is that 2x10, I believe this is one of the amps that Seymour uses live on a regular basis.

OH FANTASTIC! Okay...

1. Yes, I am talking about the 2-10" speaker amp.

2. I need to know if it is true that some say it is a noisey operating amp?

3. Is it easy to tote around.

4. How do you like the amp overall.

It's a little noisy---there is no NFB is this amp, which is typically used to reduce noise, distortion, oscillation, and tailor the frequency response. It's a lot more raw than a typical BF style amp, and it gets there quick without a lot of clean headroom.

Ok, Like ES-350 said the amp has no negative feedback loop and that does give it far less headroom that a normal BF Fender amp. It actually sits somwhere between a Tweed and a BF in tone...it has more mids that a BF but not as much mids as a tweed. I really like the tone of the amp. It is a bit noisey out of the box but new tubes fix most of that...this amp can also be a bit on the bright side but tubes fixes most of that as well.

Over all it's a great amp...40 watts, 2x10's not to big not too heavy nice cleans cool tremolo (both the trem and the verb are on both channels) good cleans and great overdrive. This amps was made to overdrive a bit early...if yuou use your guitars controls to work the amp you'll love this amp.

Not much clean headroom. Starts breaking up real early but if your a blues player you'll love it.

Thanks gentlemen. I indeed play the blues. I am thinking of selling my 70 Super Reverb for something easier to move around. The Custom Vibrolux sounds like it might just fit the bill.

I hear the amp is not point to point wiring. Does this concern you?

I am also thinking of buying a Fender Deluxe Reverb because of the lower wattage.

Please give me some feedback.

The amp is on a PCB but to be honest it's a pretty thick PCB and nice and solid. It doesn't really bother me.

A friend of mine from Chicago who played with Jody Williams and Sam Lay for a long time uses one of these and really likes it...

I must be a blues player ... I've never had an amp that broke up too early. :)

If they do, you just rebias or get harder tubes.

I think part of the problem with this amp in stock form, is that it uses 2 Jensen P12Rs. Replace at least one of those and you might cure the problem.

I was interested in this amp at one time, partly the specs, the compact package, and no negative feedback meant good tone in the old tweed amps.

AFAIK, Evan said Seymour had gone back to his Line 6 amp. It sounded like his Vibrolux needed a little tweaking. After all, it's one of the great amps for a tele.

I wouldn't say that it breaks up to early but it does give it up sooner that a typical 40 watt amp. It's a great package...speakers and tubes change the tone of the amp a good bit. In fact I am considering tweaking mine a bit more jhust to see what I can get out of it if I end up keeping it.
