Re: fender reissues

The break up on the Bassman Models esp the LTD, plus the ability to jumper channels - that says everything from SRV to OLD CLAPTON.

While the Super Reverb is also a good consideration, a la Albert Collins to Derek Trucks, I feel it's more the "Fender" style berak up. The Bassman has a mix of a Fender glassy/feel and a Marshall JTM mojo in one.

Re: fender reissues

I'd like the Bassman oneday myself....

But these days i am in the middle of building a big pedalboard... I am finding all i need an amp for is a nice big clean sound and use pedals to push it... I still use amp distortion plenty, don't get me wrong, but one of my set ups is just for using pedals... So for my pedalboard i think i'd want the Twin as it would give high clean headroom plus it would have reverb...

Re: fender reissues

the old bassman's circuit number is 5F6A,
what's the nr of the 1970 SF Super Reverb ?

cheers

Sorry to be so late in commenting. You probably already have an amp by now. I personally love the Bassman 59 Ltd. But I do agree that a Super would be a better choice for SRV. A great and inexpensive outboard reverb is the EH Holy Grail. I like dirtier ZZ Top type blues and AC/DC so I like how how the Bassman gets there in spades with no pedal. My dream would be for Fender to make the current reissue so you could run a 2x12 as well but they wanted old school.

Re: fender reissues

I'm not a fan of the twin reissue, personally.

Somehow the tweed bassman reissues lack something. If you can, try a custom shop bassbreaker, which is an outstanding amp. It's basically a tweed bassman reissue with 2 vintage 30s. Hard to find, but a killer amp. Also, Victoria manage to get the original tweed vibe happening. Expensive, but if there's a dealer in Austria you should definitely check one of their bassman clones out.

The super reverb would be my choice out of the three you mention. That's a nice amp. But my fave fender reissue apart from the custom shop tweed twin has to be the deluxe reverb reissue. Great amp.

Also try out the Custom Vibrolux Reverb, which is the amp I use. Great blues-rock amp.

Re: fender reissues

Yeah, you missed the Custom Vibrolux! I think that is the reall winner in the Fender lineup; but I like the new Super Sonic, too.
