Has anyone ever heard of a solid state fender showman? Saw one on sale for about 500$ canadian. Do they sound ok? I'm just looking for a fairly loud amp with some headroom that sounds good clean.
It's not a head . . . it's a solid-state showman combo with a 1X12 speaker. I can't seem to find any information anywhere about this amp though . . . I'm very confused. Did fender even release an amp like this?
I just checked the fender amp feild guide on ampwares and didn't see anything about a completely SS Showman. Maybe you are confusing SS Rectifier with being a completely SS amp??? Check it out for yourself.. FFG
I checked that fender field guide and they don't have any solid state amps on there at all . . . There's no standby switch on the amp (which I thought that all fender tube amps from the 70s on had), and there's a 5 band EQ on the left of the front panel. Just wondering if anyone has seen/heard one of these before.
I think they recently co-opted the Showman name for one of those crappy SS combos they sell to noob guitar students. It's no more a Showman than a Crate MX15R is.
