Fender Strat ?? Jeff Beck Sig mod

I just saw a beautiful Strat but I am not sure if it is original.

I was Cream yellow color, It had two single, and one HB.( fender Lace) It had a 5 pos switch and a small push button between the tone pots. Rosewood fretboard and Jeff Beck Signature on the headstock. Locking tunners, roller nut the tuner nobs are like a brushed alluminum. I could buy it for $1K US

Please let me know if this sounds right.

Yeah, Beck says Fender made those for him even tho it wasn't the design he actually wanted. I don't think I've ever seen him playing that model...but it does exist. Lew

Thanks Lew

Do you know if it desireable or should I pass. I am old enough to control some of my emotions

Re: Fender Strat ?? Jeff Beck Sig mod

I'd pass - they are not as popular as other sig models (EC) and unless you can play like him. Taken from his web site:

>Like few guitarists before him, Beck plays the entire guitar. Using his fingers instead of a guitar pick for greater speed and control over the fretboard, Beck adds deft twists of the volume and tone knobs to shape the notes as he’s playing them and further bends sounds into a rubbery tangle with his controlled cruelty on the whammy bar. “I play the way I do because it allows me to come up with the sickest sounds possible. That’s the point now isn’t it?” says Beck with a wicked grin. “I don’t care about the rules. In fact, if I don’t break the rules at least 10 times in every song then I’m not doing my job properly.” <

another thing is that those have pretty large necks, if that's an issue for you .. probabaly one of larger necks you'll find on a strat

and, honestly, $1K seems high for a 90's strat, even a sig .. it's fairly close to a strat plus from that time

I don't think you should pay that much. Offer 800. and stay firm. I have played that model, it is the first version of the Beck sig. strat. I played it through a twin, it was great but I still think it is priced a little high. The second problem is the neck. If it is an early model the neck is likt a Louisville slugger sliced in half. Very thick, very hard to get around on. Play it first offer $ next.

Thanks to all

I didn't notice the neck being fat. I played it a little with all of my 4 months worth of experiance. It sounded sweet but that is big money right now. I think I will check on it in a while. I need another guitar like I need another leg. Yes I have two legs at the moment :)

I have one of those Jeff Beck sig strat . It has the best neck ever on a strat !!!
In fact I like large necks .

I swapped the crappy lace sensor for some AP1S and it sounds huge !

I bought this wonder 600$ like new.

My best strat.

Re: Fender Strat ?? Jeff Beck Sig mod

I happen to like the necks on those strats, but not the pickups. The most important thing about a guitar is the way it feels in your hands. Play as many as you can, until you know exactly what you want in a guitar. There are plently of options for that kind of money.
