As you can see i tried to capture the fret wire damage as good as i could and also i took a picture of the bridge to show just how high the saddles are but for some reason the strings sit pretty low

That's pretty severe fret wear. It will definitely need new frets where it's as bad as it is there, but if the upper frets are OK, then they could be kept, because the whole thing would have to be sanded, crowned and polished anyway after a whole or partial refret.

I'm sorry to say, you probably got screwed on that purchase if you paid more than $50 for the guitar. That's a costly and necessary repair and the reason it was probably sold in the first place.

I just picked a used MIM also 1999 to 2000 year with no fret wear but had a couple light scratches. Rose wood was pretty dirty and I had to clean up the frets. I learned a few years ago always check the frets! He had like 3 other strats but there were pretty worn in the fret area.

I wouldn't bother trying to fix that neck. If it was a set neck you would have no option but to fix the frets. Seeing it is a bolt on you can go OEM Fender replacement for $200 and be done. If the frets are that bad you don't know what other issues that neck may have. Take it as a learning experience and move on.

Damn I'm revolted from any fender products right now

Wait a sec... do you think this sort of wear and tear is specific to Fender products?

Do you realize that if this were a Gibson product, the neck would most likely be glued on an completely unreplaceable?

Right.

And we are revolted by you being unwilling to check on your picture links even in your 4th thread here with the same posting problems. Why should we spend the time on sorting out your picture links?

Hold up... I don't see as this is a fender issue. This is user error.. or like Lew stated earlier, maybe a falling accident... but, if you're so revolted, feel free to send that guitar my way. One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Re: Fender Stratocaster Made in Mexico... Set up

Na, I'd say a MIM strat with frets ground down to wood is just plain trash.

IMO, what you should be revolted at is yourself for failing to spot such advanced fret wear before paying the vendor's asking price. The smart options would have been to negotiate a generous discount or to walk away. (This is, of course, just one opinion. You are not obliged to take the slightest notice.)

I was just gonna take it off his hands so he wouldnt have to look at it anymore.. Junk it all except the body and start a new project ;)

It's definitely not Fender's fault! Would you blame Ford if you bought a used car with bald tires? I know spending that kind of cash and not having turn out the way you wanted stings. Put the neck on Ebay or Craigslist and get whatever you can for it. DISCLOSE the fret damage in the ad. Someone will buy it. Take the money and put it towards a Mighty Mite replacement neck or something similar. You can get them for $99 or less and they are comparable to the MIM necks. Slap it on and enjoy your guitar. Or sell the guitar at a loss and put the money towards something new and consider the loss the price you pay for a good education in consumer economics.

I wear my frets at the second one the worst because Im always playing at the spot the most and do a lot of bends. It can happen on any guitar, my Gibson SG has some. I wipe the strings with mineral oil for fast and smooth playing and reduces fret wear.
