It's actually a pretty nice amp. I've wanted one ever since they came out.
I was glad to see that they included a sturdy footswitch this time, since Fender usually has crappy ones.
Since it does highgain, I'd rather have it in the head/2-12 cab configuration in cream tolex. The 1-12 combo isn't as tight for gain, and when you crank it, the speaker can rattle the tubes. I'd much rather have it in the piggyback setup.

It's not a 50's Bassman...it's a BF Vibrolux or a BF Bassman for the clean channel and the crunch channel is based (if not completely lifted) from the Fender Prosonic from the 90's...great amp for the scratch for sure. between the 2 mods on the clean channel you can get some real nice clean tones as well as some mildly overdriven tones then from a real nice mid gain crunch to a high(ish) gain crunch in the other channel. I would much prefer the piggyback as well but the combo comes with verb...a very nice touch for the clean channel. This is one of (if not THE) only new design Fender amp I will suggest to people.

I tried one and was very very impressed. Best clean amp I've played for ages and definitely the best clean current production line model around.

another nice trick on this amp is jumping the effects loop, and increasing the db (turning the knob up ?) and it works as a lead boost that is controlable with the effects loop switch on the pedal. Overall I really like this amp.

Are you sure about that? I really didn't care for the Prosonic but thought the SS's gain channel sounded pretty good.

I played it at GC and it sounded about what i expected it to. Don't get me wrong the, all the sounds are great, but not spectacular. The one problem i did notice is that when switching from vibrolux to bassman there is a volume increase and when you get the vibrolux mode sounding good, the bassman is too boomy so if you turn the bass down then the vibrolux sounds thin. Both modes sound good but it might be tricky if you are trying to switch between them on a gig.

It's a good amp. I've played two and one had a very glassy vibrolux setting, but the other one was nicer. the bassman setting was good on both. I didn't really dig the high gain, as it sounded pretty 'mark' era Boogie to me, but there are some fantastic low-mid gain sounds on the gain channel.

True, I have a Prosonic currectly (2 x 10 combo) and the best sounds are frome the class A clean (overdriven by a boost) or the SS Gain, both are very nice. I'm pretty sure that the Supersonic was based on the Prosonic in conjunction with the Bassman/Vibrolux sounds.

There's been extensive talk and rumors regarding this over at the FDP. And from everything I've read, the only the the SuperSonic shares with the ProSonic is the name "Sonic." From what I understand the two amps are entirely different.

As far as design and layout yes they are very different. The Supersonic has the clean channel that "models" the Bassman and the Vibrolux while the dirty "burn" channel is well dirty. Its the tone of the dirty channel is resembles the dirty channel of the Prosonic (SS Recto). But the Prosonics clam to fame is the switchable rectifier, it can be played as a straight Class A amp w/tube rectifier, switched to a Class A/B w/tube rectifier, or switched to a Class A/B w/SS rectifier. Personaly I really dig mine, the clean channel doesn't sound like a Fender, its dark compared to other tube amps Fender has out.
