Fender Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe

Re: Fender Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe

I agree, but I'm not convinced Fender "improved" this amp when they "updated" the previous series to the Hot Rod series ... I see a lot of comments that people just use the clean channel, and use a pedal for OD

I agree, though, it's one of the better smaller, affordable, giggable combos

and EVERYONE knows that tweed looks cool :)

Re: Fender Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe

I have a HRD and I love it and would not change it for anything else.
Clean tone is super. Forget the overdrive channel. I use pedals.
I would love to have a 50w. Marshall 800 combo beside my amp. and
a split switch. That would cover any style of music.

Re: Fender Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe

The clean channel is really the shining star of this amp. And it aso takes pedals beautifully.

Weirdly enough I was having problems with mine and had it sent to the repair shop for warranty work. When it came back the drive channel actually sounded alot better. Like, to the point that I'd actually use it now.

I'm not sure what they did. The shop I got it from and had it repaired from are guys I hold in high-esteem. I'm a it more than a regular there and I almost wonder if they had their tech do a little something "extra" to the amp when they got their hands on it since I'd mentioned I was really dissapointed with the drive channel on it.

Re: Fender Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe

I just bought a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (not tweed) I loved the clean channel when I tried it out, and will probably use a pedal for the Overdrive/Distortion. but I plan on playing around with the gain channels on the amp, should be fun.

Rock On :13:

You have a good solid tube amp with the HRD. Play around with the knobs, and it does work well with all kinds of pedals.

Re: Fender Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe

Sure if you want ok cleans and nothing else these are great but for my 2 cents i'd advise a carvin belair at www.carvin.com they have great od and clean and thier tweed and cheap check the soundclips also check the forums there for a guy called hasserl he can tell you how to do some great mods on it.

Will this HRD Tweed become a collectors Item since Fender does not make them anymore?

I have a Laquered Tweed Blues Jr. with a factory Jensen speaker, and i've wondered the same thing.

Re: Fender Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe

I had a 2x12 HRDeville and it was blistering loud. Distortion was buzzy, so I gave up on the amp. Cleans were outstanding, but anything over 2 on the volume and my ears were bleeding!

I was just reading about this problem. It seems the fender engineers in
their ifinate wisdom put Linear tapper Pots for the Volume controls? I had
the same problem w/t my Super 60. On 3 it's blairing LOUD! Everybody
starts telling you to turn down. :blackeye: You put it on 2 1/2 and you
got nothing! (Tonewise) I'm planning on getting a HRD. 1st thing I will do
is Swap the volume pots to Audio tapper.:D

To KMCguitars, same problem with the HRD, too loud for my basement.
Can you explain= Swap the volume pot to Audio tapper?
Is it a solution and how does it work? Is it as good as an attenuator?
