Finally, a way to use a Metal Zone.

Re: Finally, a way to use a Metal Zone.

It's a great pedal IMO, but like most music gear it really just comes down to user application.

Re: Finally, a way to use a Metal Zone.

Very nice clip Nathan. The MetalZone is a great pedal it just became a punchline because it was so widely used. That being said that many people would not be using a petal if it was so horrible. I think about the sales guy that sold me my MXR Dist+ back in the 80's; he said: "This pedal can make anything sound great, or anything sound bad."

Re: Finally, a way to use a Metal Zone.

I had this pedal, till my daughter destroyed it by throwing it down, and I must admit I wasn't exactly sad about it. Then bought me-25 which did much more than metal-zone.

You have a strong girl there! lol
Some of the HM2s I've seen on ebay/reverb look like they were dropped off a 10 story building then ran over by an 18 wheeler.,,,and many of them still work.

Of all the pedals to be housed in an indestructible metal enclosure with what’s probably the best reliability in the industry.

I agree, but mine broke exactly on the con-central knob (if i recall correctly : the mid shaping pot), I tried but there was no way I could repair it.

I can barely repair a broken string haha!

Well there's sure no shortage of them used for almost nothing,,,,,,,,,,,just in case you decide to revisit the dark side.

Re: Finally, a way to use a Metal Zone.

People only hate it because we're used to hearing what it sounds like when people don't use it tastefully. What about the rhythm, no way that's a metalzone!

Re: Finally, a way to use a Metal Zone.

Or you hate it because it's not meant to be used tastefully. It's supposed to be used in a way that conveys the anger and sadism of the genre. The same way rap uses overly loud inarticulate bottom end and sirens.

Re: Finally, a way to use a Metal Zone.

I've made a lot of jokes about it, but I don't hate it. I can make it work if it were what I had. Just like the HM, it sounds best on the "F you" setting. I actually really like the EQ of the metalzone. I'll be damned if you can't cop any metal tone just with that active parametric mid sweep. A friend of mine made a noise generaing pedal which uses the mz eq stage to create different harmonics, chirps and squeals and whathaveyou.

Surely you've heard people use it who don't convey anger, just crap but the pedal itself isn't the issue. We've all been there. Our first tones are rarely very good.

I should have said "one hates it" instead of "you".
