Finally, a Wolfie I dig..

Re: Finally, a Wolfie I dig..

I loved the small vintage frets on my EVH Wolfgang special.

Re: Finally, a Wolfie I dig..

The specials now come with jumbo frets too- no more vintage size stainless

The necks are also now 1 11-16 rather than 1 5/8.

Now if I didn't thing they were so ugly ... Id have to get one and stripe it to camouflage the ugliness

Play one, they grow on you

Re: Finally, a Wolfie I dig..

I did.

I played the flat top specials- the MIJ ones. The necks were too small, body too small for me and the strings sat too high off the body.

The MIM Specials seem to have cured those problems- and the standards may be better too.

I prefer the half tele/ half les paul of the EBMM Axis

Re: Finally, a Wolfie I dig..

I have a buddy that scored one of the orig peavey wolfgangs for a steal when a local shop closed up. Was one of the low end ones with the flat top and plain color. It had all the tone tho. With any Ive played of those or the evh branded ones, (and music manaxes)Ive never beenable to gel with the clubbie feeling necks and the small frets. Ive not yet played one of these, but at least I know the small frets wont be an issue. Plus, ive never really cared for the looks of any except the one with the purple figured tops. So this has the figured top and big frets.. I always liked the tone of them tho..
