tricky..
I believe that any hand made instrument is worth more than a production unit, however people are very shy of paying what an instrument is worth..
the best starting point is to ascertain what a good guitar sells for, say a Strat as an example..
do you believe that your guitar is better in quality than a strat?
then price accordingly..
I made the mistake once of figuring out my hourly rate....
it worked out at around $3-$4/hour..
I then increased my pricing..
so now i work for the princely sum of $5-$6/hour...
people (customers) can be odd.. when you ask them what they get paid, they will tell you and cant believe anyone would work for such a low figure...
but....
They balk at paying the price if they applied their hourly rate to the cost of the instrument...
and that doesn't take into account the cost of timber and hardware....
soooo......
get what you can, buy more timber, make more and one day you may...may... actually get paid a fair and decent price for your instruments...
