Thanks!

Here's a bit of an update. Decided to mod the snot out of my SP77 preamp and bring it up to the standards of its big brothers the X88R and X99. Man I'd love an X99. Anyway, I replaced all the electrolytic caps since it's from '92 and it couldn't hurt. Replaced a bunch of other caps with Polyester orange drops like Soldano uses in all the higher end amps and preamps. Also replaced every ceramic cap and tantalum with Wima film caps. All that and did a few mods along the way too. Now it sounds much more like it's big brothers at a fraction of the cost even after all the component changes and stupidly pricey knobs I swapped onto it to match the other Soldano preamps.

Really stunning! Makes my ragtag assortment of equipment look that much moreso.
Would love to hear this in action. You really would not need 6 mics for this, just very careful placement of 3-4; two close mics and a stereo mic or m/s between the two and further back to get the stereo spread.

How far out on the Island are you? Maybe I can trek out there one day and we can play round with trying to record that rig.

Re: Finally "finished" my new rig...

A lot more complex then what I would need..... My rig is done. I have my Komet 60, my Shiva and a few pedals & guitars. I'm good to go. When I gig I usually use a Marshall 900 50W combo or a De;luxe Reverb depending on the room and material I am playing. Recently Ive been playing the Shecter Tempest that I bought from you with the Duncan Antiquity P90's in it. This guitar kicks ass! Stop by man would love to catch up with you!

Thanks. I have zero clue about recording as I've never one any aside from sticking a phone in front of an amp so I can remember an idea haha. I'm about an hour from NYC or so on the north shore of Nassau county.

Also: thanks for the signal flow chart. I love schematics like that!

I love that stuff too, but I'm also a nerdy graphic designer and detail obsessed nut so there's that haha.

The setup and wiring was a bit complex, the actual using of it is crazy simple though, which is what I was after. Your Komet would be awesome with the Fryette Power Station, you could turn that sucker up to 10 feed it into the Fryette to attenuate and reamp it and not go deaf getting to the sweet spot of that amp. That Schecter was a cool guitar, glad to hear it's still getting some play time. Yeah, I have to come by and see you guys, I've got a guitar done you'd get a kick out of and one I know Cris will like.

As long as there is LIRR out there from Atlantic Terminal/Jamaica, I think this is doable!
