Finally have a strat again! (NGD)

Picked this up locally, I needed a strat again since I've not had one for a while. It's a first run of the Jimmie Vaughan Strat, and I'm really liking it!

Nice!
So what is different between it and a standard Strat?
Oh, and I like how the Lincoln, 1/2" soft drawn, sand cloth, and cordless drill add to the ambiance!
Obviously a multi use area.

Awesome! A good Strat is tough to beat, and those JVs are known to be great.

Obviously a multi use area.

Soft V neck, AVRI bridge, Tex-Mex pickups. So, it's got the upgrades I would likely be doing on a standard MIM.

Re: Finally have a strat again! (NGD)

I put two of those pickups and an Antiquity Texas Hot into a Fender Classic Player Stratocaster. Made the guitar slightly less ferocious than the Fender Fat Fifties set but, overall, more usable.

stevie used 13's sometimes and tuned down a half step. i dont think jimmy went that heavy.

Cool. Fade-to-Black. Is that whole rig powered by that battery charger? :D

Re: Finally have a strat again! (NGD)

Pretty sure I've read JV uses flat wound 10s. SRV used an 11 set with heavy E strings, 11, 12 or 13 and 58.

Doesn't your stuff get a bit dusty? Mine did when i had it on a cement floor. You should cement sealer it bro.

It's not the cement dusty that's the problem. It's the dogs and their kennel that brings in yard dust.

It is a Lincoln wire feed welder.

The truss rod is an interesting story. 2 owners ago, they didn't know what was going on with the setup. They had the truss rod changed. Pretty nuts that someone didn't check first to see if it actually needed that work done. But, it works, and the adjuster is easier to access, so I'm not too worried about it. I may switch it out for a bullet type truss rod nut eventually, though.

Fret leveling and crowning tools are on the way, so soon enough, I'll have it all set up nice, and it'll get some real love.
