Finally, tried the Mama Bear

Re: Finally, tried the Mama Bear

You can velcro it to the inside of your neck block or -- what I do -- is fix it to the inside of the back of the guitar just opposite the treble side of the soundhole.

Re: Finally, tried the Mama Bear

Mama Bear is an outboard, er- offboard device. Do you mean onboard? If so, no, you can't. The reason has to do with the power requirements. Mama looks like a friendly Bear, but open the hood and you'll see a screamin' fast 32 bit computer under there.

The power supply alone took six months to develop. It splits the power into something like five voltages for different parts of the circuit.

I guess it could be done as an onboard device with phantom power or by adding a battery the size of the one that powers your notebook computer. But rather than go down that path, at least at this time, we're opting for making it an AC-powered, offboard device.

Thanks for the question. And stay tuned for the videos. They'll be on the D-TAR site next week, as soon as our webmaster returns from vacation.

Evan, I was actually talking about the pickup's power pack. Call me weird, but I am trying to avoid putting anything largere than the piezo thread or the jack inside the guitar.
