I find it simply shocking that the JB is liked in the same configuration Jeff Beck used it in. How... unexpected.

Most of the people complaining about it are trying it in very different configurations, and sometimes finding it doesn't work for them. Also shocking.

Didn't seymour put a JB/Jazz combo in a super tele?

I think what has scared me away from it, for so long, is the multitude of crazy, almost bi-polar reviews on it, running the gamut from muddy, to thin, to dark, to bright, etc.

Depends what guitar it's in and what amp etc.

A pickup might have inherent characteristics but it does not operate in an isolation chamber.

Just say I'm doing a Harmony Central JB review with a Basswood Ibanez and a Mesa Boogie and a Rat and then I do another JB review with a Northern Ash Fat Strat and a Vox AC30 and a treble booster.

If both setups sounded the same then I think I would need to get my ears checked out.
