Finished! Need a little help...

Turns out my wiring was correct, but for some reason maybe the jack diagram I was using was wrong. I have the stereo jack connected wrong it seems, as basically, I need to pull out on the INPUT a bit and only connect it halfway in for it to work, but it works 100%. Needs a bit of tweaking and modding to where I want it.


So how should I reconnect the stereo jack..? Basically if I have the three prongs with holes facing me, plug going away from me, I have batter, ground and audio.

Help please?

Ok, the easy way to do this is to wire it up with a plug in the jack. Follow the lugs to see where they go an where they contact. Two will touch the sleeve of the jack, one will touch the tip. The one for the tip is where the signal (audio) wire hooks too. The one that would go to the sleeve of the plug (the lower of the two) would go to the ground wire. The lug that goes to the contact that hits the sleeve between the tip and other sleeve contact would be the battery negative. If you plugged a stereo plug in to the jack, the ring would be where the battery wire would be connecting to. I hope this makes sense.

Done it Doh! The diagram was simply wrong. I just didn't assume it'd be because of the source. But it was And now it works fine. I also had a tranny backwards. Back together. This pedal is somewhat warmer than the Plexitone, less hi-fi if you see what I mean. I love it, of course Now to get a little more presence and mids from it...

Let J.D. know the diagram you got was wrong so he can correct it. Glad you got it working. That is a cool circuit for sure. I breadboarded one a few years ago, never got around to perfing it though, or buying a PCB. Just lost time to do much.

Nah the stereo switch I got wasn't from him. Can't remember where I got it. His diagram was ok even though I got the old PCB, he sent me the new one today. Real good service, he offered to send me the new PCB free of charge!

That's very cool of him. Well, at least you got it figured out. That's one mistake you'll never make again (wiring up the input jack)....LOL.

The whole purpose of wiring that was is so the battery is disconnected from the circuit when the plug is plugged in.

Now, the battery negative could go to the DC jack instead, and another wire would go to the input jack. The lug the battery neg would go to on the DC jack would be the one that switches the battery out of circuit when a DC plug is inserted. They're called switching jacks. That's the better way to wire it because your battery will not drain when the DC adapter is in use. If you wire both the battery and DC jack neg to the input jack lug, then the battery will drain regardless.

No room for a switching jack I think in there. Either way I use a power supply with a battery inside, best of both worlds. Thanks bro, sounds great!
