Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

cool. The drumtrack is amazing i think.I really cannot hear it playing though!!!:)
nice tone .very nice melody and harmonies.Better than any Iced Earth song.
I like to hear it with Bass and Drums.

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

so i want to be real honest
it rocks!!!
well played and good arranged
Very nice riffing and the melody at 2:03 and at 4:30 again is really cool and is really ear candy!!!
The small solo do not fit in that "quality" of the rest.Maybe the tone .but it has not this organic feeling of the rest
I can figure it with a nice female vocl.It can be a killer!!!

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

Thanks! Yeah, I know what you mean about the lead tone. I can't stand the lead tones out of PODxt's, and I can't for the life of me get them to sound good.

No female vocals for this! Growls and male cleans or instrumental! LOL

Just the metal pack.

While I love Warrell's voice, I'd prefer something more brutal over my own stuff. The guy from Daylight Dies has a PERFECT voice for this style, IMO.

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

The picking around the 2:00 minute mark was too loud. It overpowered the driving riff as opposed to adding. The transition out of that was too abrupt. The solo at the 3:00 mark was too loud and sounded a little rough in the beginning. Almost like you were scared to go at it from the get-go. The picking again around the 4:40 mark was overpowering. The ending solo was perfect! Nice work! I wouldn't say this song is closed, but getting close. I also would raise the drums and bass in the mix. Overall, it's getting there. I'm continually impressed.

That "too loud" picking part is supposed to take over - it's the main melody piece over it, like a vocal. The solo was addressed before, still working on it. It sounds rough because it was double tracked quickly, as I can't find a tone I dig alone at all with the PODxt's.

No bass in the mix, though, so I'd definately up it ;).

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

Awesome, Jeff!

You make me proud ;).

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

Re-examined it all, mix updated accordingly! Thanks for the comments!

And D-EJ, Yeah I really changed up the kick and snare tone on this, and am really glad I did.

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

Wow, gave it a second listen... Jeff, your music and playing COMPLETELY kicks ass... it's better than so many famous, professional artists\bands i've heard!

When you get famous, can i get free tickets to your shows? :D

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

jeff, this is killer stuff, young gun ... get this into gomano's hands and see if he can aim you at someone to help you get noticed and take it to the next level, i'm serious

your concept, composition, rhythmic, harmonic and recording/production skills are startlingly good ... i liked the lead tone and harmonized melodic line at ~3:00 ... wished it went on longer!

onward and upward .. you are *so* going places with this

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

fun stuff. a little drawn out for my tastes, but probably with vocals it wouldn't seem like that. this is one of those tunes where if you put death vocals over it, it becomes a death metal song; and if you put maiden vocals over it, it becomes power prog metal. I dig the "light" guitars playing over the heavy ones. great drums. could probably use some keyboard in there too, some counter melodies here and there in the vein of later soilwork stuff.

Re: Finished up that Epic draft I had going

VERY Impressive Jeff. Definatly my favorite out of your newer stuff. Very cool feel, the drums seem a little quiet though. Damn that songs slays man :headbang:
