Restrung my FR tonight and it was EASY. Stuck a AAA battey under it so it would be level, put strings in E to e, tuned up, took battery out, locked nut, did some wammys and pulled sharp few times to stretch. Unlocked nut and tuned one more time, locked nut, fine tuned. Holy cow, i only had to tune it those 2 times!!! Been playing all night on the Daddario 9s, my fav strings. The strings it came with sucked. Well just wanted to let you know it went great. Thanks for the help guys.

It indeed is an easy operation. People just overreact because it's different. I say we form the Official Floyd Rose Information Club. The OFRIC.

It's always a crap shoot for me. Sometimes it goes off easy, but sometimes it doesn't. When I just change strings, it goes fine since I change them once in awhile. But, when I swap out a pickup and have to take all the strings off... well, all bets are off. Sometimes it comes back fine, sometimes it becomes a two-day affair with the trem springs.

I dont have a Floyd equiped guitar my self, but I borrow one from a friend every now and then. I had my share of problems until I tried the battery solution. Now it works a charm everytime.

I'm going to have restring my Edge Pro II for the first time soon. You took some of the edge of my anxiety. Thanks!

Never tried the battery trick, but maybe I should someday. Either way, congrats!

Floyd really aren't hard to tune at all -- people just need to realize that it's an iterative process. I think that most newcomers don't take the time to understand how they work before they jump in, and when tuning doesn't go the way they expected, they get frustrated.
