First Guitar?

Re: First Guitar?

My first was a Spanish guitar.
My first electric was an Ibanez Roadstar II in red from the comet series....
Have regretted selling it quite a few times by now!
The Spanish one fell down and snapped the neck right off....

While I was good with my hands back then as well...the guitar was just finished...that also bugs me...got it from my parents!

Re: First Guitar?

My first was a peavey predator plus exp, I hated it for its floating Floyd until I learned how to block it

Re: First Guitar?

Cheap used black Memphis with a flimsy strat-style non-locking tremolo.
Elvis started at Memphis, why should I be any different just because i don't have those wiggly hips?

Re: First Guitar?

I started on a Vantage bass in 91. My Brother got a Vantage strat at the same time but he soon lost intrest in it. So my guitar playing days started on that strat.

Re: First Guitar?

Cheap student acoustic, then a Kent Les Paul copy, then in 1982 a brand new Fender Strat, still have that guitar, although it's painted seafoam green now with a white pickguard, and 3 Duncan's...

Re: First Guitar?

Mine was an old no-name Strat copy–sounded terrible and had terrible action. But it was cool to me.

Re: First Guitar?

My first guitar was a Focus 3000 by Kramer. It was used but just barely. So I mainly picked it because it was a good deal. I knew nothing about guitars at the time. I actually still have it - although pretty much the only thing that is still original is the body, tuners, and jackplate.

Re: First Guitar?

1989 H.M. Strat.

One of these days I've got to put some pickups back into it.

Re: First Guitar?

one of those plastic Roy Rogers things back in late sixties, I was 5 loved it
it became a boat target to float down the ditch when I got my BB gun at 7

then a Strat-o-lin Acoustic when I was 16, pawn shop got it at 18

no-name Strat copy, was ten dollars cheaper than the Kramer I had my eye on at the local shop , I'm so cheap and stupid, and was 20

Yamaha Classical strung with steel strings, great sound - almost impossible to play with bowed neck and 1/2 inch high action, age 22

ok thats' more than first

Re: First Guitar?

A 2000 MiM Fender Strat, bought Christmas 2000, first and only owner, has gone through hell and back over the last 16 or so years.

Still own her, still play her, still love her, still needs new frets :D

Went from originally this:

To this:

To eventually this:

A SDUGF Crazy 8 in the bridge, two SDUGF StraBro 90s in the neck and middle, a whacky control scheme with splitting, tapping and pairing pickups, a set of Sperzel locking tuners and a Wilkinson VSV400 trem, leaving literally nothing stock apart from the neck and body.
And I still have this nagging feeling I'm not yet done with her ;)
