First impressions of the Demon 8

that's what it is !!!

The al8 take away some of the ( just a little bit ) harsh treebles and the ( just a little bit ) boomy bass of the al5 , and add a very nice midrange witch doesn't stand in front ( like al2 ): the EQ is more even .
And the pickup doesn't loose it's strong points : excellent dynamic , harmonic galore ( and now even more , like a bloom as the note sustains ) , punch ( even more with added mids ).
For those who thought the Demon was too treebly , with al8 it can't be ; clean or distorted , the p-u is more mellow in the highs without loosing punch and agressivity like it would with al2 .

man this confirm the rewievs other made for C-8 over C-5 .

Next step : try a jazz 8 , in a few weeks .

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

There's a lot of (in my opinion) top-heavy Duncan pickups that the Alnico 8 would fix in a quick hurry (Pearly Gates, JB, Jazz, even 59). But I hadn't thought of the Demon, and it sounds like a great match.

10k Demon with Alnico 8 -- if only I woulda thought of that before making my contribution to the Great Brobucker Fuss. :smack: D'OH!!!

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

Yeah maybe John (StratDeluxer) might want to try an Alnico8 in his Screamin Demon before he sells it.

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

Don't y'all dare mess with the PG!
It's perfect as is.

J/K, mess with it all you want. :burnout:

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

I havent been here for a while. I missed that topic.
What's that Alnico 8 about?

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

Would you say the Demon 8 is fuller and did you keep the hex screws in it?

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

Everytime the alnico8 craze come's back , and it reaaly worth trying in a low ouput pickup ( 59 or pearly or jazz ); it sound more clean , punchy , beefy than al5 , by adding a broad midrange ( think al2 but with punchy bass and treebles and looots of harmonics ) but you still have definition of low ouput .

I can't understand why Seymour didn't do this al8 for production ;
sound too modern for his customers probably ?

Just e-mail Rob Paar and he'll set you up, assuming they ship overseas. You'll have to place a big order though, $75 minimum last I heard.

A8 has a lot of low and mid but the treble is pure vintage sweet.

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

If I don't like the A2 in my modified Demon I'll definitely try A8!

Re: First impressions of the Demon 8

I think I may have a FEVER. :smack: I'm gonna ask my guitar tech If he can get an a8 mag. He's starting to flirt with making his own pups. So I may just let him use my Demon as a Lab Rat.

OK I need an A8...have to try one in the Fred.

Not sure it will be good in the Fred since it has already a lot of mids and the al8 would bring some more ... mid feast !!!
