First Strat

Ok I parted with my hard earned cash and walked away with guitar in hand (in a crappy gig bag), The guy had this massive 3 storey house...with so much antique furniture inside...so hopefully he is genuine (cos he dosnt need to rip uni students off)

I got this guitar at a price that MIM strats go second hand for....so Im a bit nervous about it being and genuine MIA strat plus as I really have not come across many. I think that the auction description made it out to be in alot worse condition that it actually is.

The neck is imaculate and the serial no# dates to 89-90. It has no signs of wear and its seems like a pretty thin coat of lacquer, I think that it would have peeled like some of the other strats of this period and they have fixed it up.

The body has a quite a lot of minor dings/scratchs that really only show up when you hold it in the right position and standing 1 metre away the are not noticable at all...The major dings arnt as bad as they appear in the photo's which is good....Awesome colour, in the pics it looks dull but it comes alive in person

Black tone/volume contols and pickup-selector...these must have been replaced...Iv only ever seen stock white but correct me if im wrong. The vintage rails is nice...SSL-1's in the neck is sweet, hell noisy as soon as it goes through any gain...but the nicest clean sound iv come across in a strat ...

I think im going to have to play it to death and try out all the different sweet tones this thing puts out.

Only negative is the neck...its one of the thin strat pluses....i like the bigger c's and soft v's ....other than that it would be perfect....

oh and here's the link again:
Ill post some better pics when my sister comes to visit with her digital camera

Re: First Strat

I remember you posting about this strat a few days ago. I think it's a nice score. The dings and such give it character, which a strat needs in my opinion (well, everyone else's, I'm a neat freak). I love the color, and with the duncans in there you have a nice head start on tone.

It will be a great player for you, and you don't have to worry about the occasional knock on it. Play the heck out of it and enjoy!
