First time installing pickups and need help

Hello. I have squier affinity telecaster and bought the quarter pound 2 piece set to upgrade the pickups as a little side project.

The photo is how it is currently wired after installing everything but the issue is that only the middle position on the switch works. When I flip to neck or bridge, I get nothing. I’ve looked at all the wiring diagrams and can’t figure out what the issue is. Could it possibly be the switch? Any input helps. Thanks!

The switch terminals appear burnt. One of them appears to be missing. Too much heat for too long. You need a new switch. Get a Fender switch and follow th3 diagram inbthe bottom of the pickup box.

That's a really weird switch. I've never seen one quite like that, with those terminal spacings before. But either way, the "red arrow" here should be your output to the volume control. And it doesn't look like you even have it connected.

ArtieToo thanks for the response. It’s the switch it came with. The model I have was made in China so who knows. The blue wire coming from the backside of the switch is connected to that terminal with the red arrow.

Ah. Ok. I see it now. But no offence . . . that soldering is real sloppy. That can make all the difference between something that works and doesn't. One of us will post a pic, or a link, to the right switch.

ArtieToo still struggling over here. Can you take a look at an updated picture? In the diagram that beau posted the wire going from switch to volume touches four different switch terminals. Does there need to be four different connections or is it one of the four? I’m currently getting nothing out of my amp…

You need to wire it just like the diagram. Wires connecting all 4 terminals, then going to the volume pot.

right, wire it just like the diagram shown in post 10. your old switch and the new one are not wired the same

^^^^ Yup and yup. Seeing it in schematic form might make it easier to understand why there are four terminals connected together. Note right side of 3-way.
