First time user of oil that is tru

Re: First time user of oil that is tru

Once I have a free day I'm going to be finishing this with some stain then applying TruOil over it.

A sample of the stain, applied lightly as a test.

Myself, I wouldn't stain this, and I would satin finish it. To each their own though, variety is good.

stuffs a bunch a uncured mess under there.

I don't think it's uncured if he got it *that* glossy. He would have been rubbing through.

sorry bub Tru oil instructions are 24 hours between caots.

Those are worst-case scenario guidelines. Here in AZ I've had paint and tru oil cure much faster than advertised. (In fact, just started painting one body and it was dry to the touch in *less than 10 minutes* when they say 30.)

Re: First time user of oil that is tru

I apply mine like the guy in the video did to the gunstock...using my bare fingertips (no gloves) and a rubbing motion along the grain.

Just as Dominus mentioned, the typical climate here in the bottom half of AZ makes 24 hour wait times unnecessary much of the year when applying the finish outdoors.

In other parts of the country and during certain times of the year, longer wait times can be ideal.
