Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

The Tele set blows me away really. There are a lot of unconventional secrets in the R&D there, things about the magnetic field, the materials, the way we handle the in-between sounds (the middle position is almost like another unique voice)

I apologize if it starts sounding like I'm promoting, it's not my intent. I'm really just trying to answer the questions best I can based on the knowledge I have as someone involved in the development. Greg Koch can make anything sound amazing. But he's not going to put his name on something that isn't already amazing, if that makes sense.

It makes total sense. I'm interested in the tele set.

Long story short, I ordered the classics for my CST24 and Fishman said 3 way was the only way despite my interactions here. Can you PM me the specs for a PRS 5way and the humbuckers? Would Classic and Modern sets have the same wiring?

Honestly it is like...EXACTLY what you're wanting. Voice 1 and Voice 2 both stay clear under gain, Voice 2 is super fluid and liquidy in the low mids AND has crisp and dynamic top end at the same time.

Hm, sounds interesting.
And if the modern ceramic/alnico is anything like EMG 81/85 it might also be an idea to put the alnico in the bridge and the ceramic in the neck?

Too bad they're so difficult to buy here in Europe...
A shop in England had them for £190 British pounds and wanted £50 for the shipping! I've paid less than 50 for guitars being shipped from England.
I'd like the brushed stainless and they're nowhere to be found... Yeah, thomann could order them but the price would be 329 Euros because it would be a special order...
Well i might just let my luthier check if he can get them cheaper...

I found this and it really makes me want hear and try a set. I might even take a chance and just buy a set if the positive feedback continues.

Fishman’s new Fluence pickups, however, are truly the most innovative electric guitar pickup design introduced since the first single-coil pickups.

I guess, if you ignore Lace's designs. The Alumitones were definitely innovative.

I liked their demo video with the 80s throwback guy as well.

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Received and installed a set of Fluence Modern Humberckers in my Les Paul. They are magnificent! Without a doubt the best pups I have ever tried. The highs are crisp and have a real bite to them, the mids are warm and full and the bass is tight and clear absolutely no muddy sounds from these pups.

It is cool that standard wiring gives you two setting per pup and they are clearly different sounds. The end result is with a Les Paul you get eight distinctly different sounds which covers a pretty broad spectrum (I can even get a Strat quack out of them, pretty amazing hearing it out of a Les Paul).

I think there is a real future for this new pup technology that Fishman has introduced. I can only speak to Humbuckers obviously because I have not tried the single coil or Tele set up. However, I think the even with the small offering of pups that Fishman currently has most guitarists that use Humbuckers can find what they are looking for because of the broad spectrum of sounds that each pickup provides.

Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement for Fishman, I am just really excited about these pups.

(Wish I could test a set of Strat single coils - wife would kill me if I bought another guitar and set of pups now...oh well...maybe they will show up at my local music store sometime soon)

So that makes two of us that have played them in person. :)

Any clips in the future?

This augers well for my Patrick Eggle Berlin Wall project guitar (as mentioned on page 3 of this thread).

Augers what? I don't have a clue about what your trying to get across. Please translate for a simple one.

Auger n.

A corkscrew-shaped tool for boring holes.

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

I assume by auger you meant that if bodes well, meaning that it seems like a good idea. But if you're going to drive an auger through your Patrick Eggle, send it to me instead.

They sound pretty fantastic, and I hope to take possession of a Falbo Hollowbody soon with Classic Humbuckers. Both the Classic humbucker, and the strat pups sounded good enough my wife even gave them a seal of approval....and she's tough about such things!

FWIW the strat pups sounded stupid authentic to me. I found it hard to believe that they were active "newfangled" pickups.

Hey there you are! I was wondering if you were gonna pop in here.

Yeah that Strat did sound wildly good, didn't it?

It reminded me less of hearing a Strat straight into an amp and more like hearing a Strat with a bunch of studio treatment on it but in a good way - not processed, just refined, smooth, even responsive, and... I dunno. I hesitate to use the word 'perfect' in any scenario but I'm having a hard time coming up with another adjective here.

Probably more like 6-7 of us.

Will you be at this show this weekend? If so drop me and line.

It's a complex wiring diagram, if you're getting ready to install a set, contact me outside the forum.

I shall take you up on this offer.

if you're going to drive an auger through your Patrick Eggle, send it to me instead.

The only things I shall be sending are a PM and gratitude.

Wow! Your getting a Falbo, that's great. It is a guitar that truly represents the best in everything the word guitar conjures up. Congratulations.
