Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

I have several sets of Fluence pickups installed in (2) Stratocasters, (1) Telecaster, and (1) Les Paul {Had a bad battery in that one that Fishman not only fixed but changed their battery case design}.

I stopped using my other guitars because the tone is better with the Fluence pickups for recording and live shows.

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

should be noted that johnstone and leevc5 were the same person so not sure how much credance id give this thread

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

Yes, folks, you read that correctly. Johnstone, who said Fluence Telecaster pickups stink, was actually Lee(vc5) who in real life really loves his Fluence pickups.

I don't understand the motivation but apparently he wanted to stimulate point/counterpoint arguments or discussions, where he could play his own devil's advocate role.

The net result, however, is that a thread was made that lied to the public about someone disliking Fluence. It's not true. Af far as we know there is nobody who feels this way about Fluence, including the author.

So it's tough for me to think, should it be deleted? Since its both bashing the competition, and false? I feel like no, it should stay here on the forum in case any people had read it, and had thought that someone felt negatively about Fluence like this.

No matter how you look at it, it's definitely a new level of "weird" for me, and I've seen a lot of levels of weird on this forum over the years. LOL

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

Wow, that's a turn of events!

Both of those "guys" were seriously getting on my nerves for different reasons, but knowing it's the same person makes total sense.

What a _____er! (insert 4-word prefix of your choice)

Actually Frank, the MLP moderators had someone who kept trying to create sock puppets. They had to repeatedly stamp on them....over 10 attempts in a row IIRC

So on a closely related topic, who is Thanaton the sock for.......do we think D is making a comeback

Thanks for clarifying! Was wondering what happened to get em both banned. I was expecting the op to cuz of the bash.. haha

My problem with the Fluence pickups is that I don't have a guitar that has any in it.... ; )

Oh Honey....... I REALLY NEED another guitar......... But this time I really do need it!! hahaha

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

No wonder I couldn't stand either one of them. They were the same.

This.

I didn't want to be the one to say it first, but I've certainly been thinking it.

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

To make matters worse, the actual guy (Lee) lives near me. He contacted me to ask about Fluence because (just like Blackouts and EMG) we give normal length potentiometers, but we will supply long shaft if necessary. He had a Les Paul where 2 pots fit, 2 didn't.

I invited him to my shop, where I recessed his LP cavity to fit the other two pots. No charge of course. Just being nice. He had nothing but wonderful things to say about my guitars, my shop, very complimentary and grateful for the help. Then, he wrote a thread complaining that he disliked his Fluence Moderns. It was clear, and others had chimed in that he was not an EMG type customer, Moderns were not the one for him, he should have chosen Classics.

So I invited him back to my shop for an even swap, his Moderns for a set of my Classics. Mind you, this was not a Fishman sanctioned thing, I just did it out of my own personal stock. Now, he loves the Classics; still claims to love them to this day. Never anything but kind words to say to me, and I personally extended myself and my time to him, including attempting to answer other pickup related questions.

To find out it was him who was treating me like this, to put those words on-screen as Johnstone...it confused my sensors...

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

So was he quite young Frank??
Some of the threads he started indicated a naiivity with the world, like wondering what is entry level goods, or not knowing why you would offer a large range of guitars to suit all budgets.

Congratulations, you've gotten yourself your own stalker, blended with narcissistic personality disorder and a touch of megalomany, and I wouldn't discard some elements of repressed homosexuality to the mix. In plain english, a basket case. Way to go Frank! ;)

Wow. Lots of threads that made no sense make sense now. Not good sense, you understand, just sense.

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

I'm in favor of leaving it up–people will see the only bad things about the pickups are flakes.

I didn't think I'd ever really think about getting a set but after the whole saga from Johnstone now I want to try 'em.

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

It is easy to see they were the same person in hindsight, because they had the same type of patterns, and got the same type of reactions from people. I am sure he has moved on to another forum to do the same thing.
