Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

I guess leaving it up would be good. As long as people read to the end to see why everything went the way it went of course. Which I am not so sure about...

But no matter if the threads are taken down or not, for me what has been the main selling point in all the topics where Fishman (or actually Frank) have been involved, is their great friendliness and customer oriented attitude. That alone would sell me on the company, maybe not on the product straight away, but it gets me considering their products with more attention than before. I guess in finding some strat replacements pickups these will be on the list for try-outs :).

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

I wanted to post a troll meme in the Zephyr thread which I believe leevc5 started. There were several individuals refuting and challenging Frank's informative posts. Kind of explains everything now.

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

I never took this thread seriously and always assume that anyone who makes a blanket statement that any quality product appreciated by respected professionals "stinks" or "sucks" or is the absolute "worst" (be it 57 Classics or a Klon KTR) is just a kid or beginner or person who can't play, looking for a product that will make make him sound like he can.

In this case I was wrong though: this guy was just a troll.

Munchausen's syndrome.

With him enjoying his recovery time from a softball accident, without his wife bossing him around, I think your diagnosis is spot on.

Anyway, you can't expect everybody to love your product. Whether it's a real person, Kermit or a sock puppet, there is always somebody talking smack behind your back.

Without picture of you and that tele -I call BS.

I have a set installed into ASH body with a maple neck and they sound great!

Me too and I'll never go back to conventional pups. I put my "Gristle Tone" system in a G&L ASAT Classic and there was only a little trouble with getting the input jack to accomodate the difference between the G&L and Fender. But I never looked back. The neck pickup sound is to die for. The push button for two voices gives the bridge pup extra versatility. No freaking hum whatsoever. I get perfect chicken pickin to Hellicaster twang to heavy rock. The neck gives me an authentic Hendrix strat neck pup sound. A totally winning investment.

Re: Fishman Fluence Telecaster pickups stink

You may remember back when I said I went and ordered the Fluence Tele pickups and I said I would get back and tell ya what I thought. Well I got them about a week ago and didn't have much trouble putting them in the guitar but that was the last of the good news I have to say about these things Luckily the place I bought them from are willing to take them back and they are packaged and on there way back right now. I don't know how to talk about how a guitar or pickup does like most of you but I do know enough to say these things are not what I think a Telecaster should sound like no matter how many switches and gizmos they have put in them. I get better sound just putting my Tele up agaings a door and playing. Well that's just my opinion maybe they sound good to some people I guess they should for what they cost I'm just hear to say that you better play them before you buy them and not make the mistake I made listening to what some other people had to say.

I recently bought a new candy apple red American Professional Telecaster which is a whole lot of nice and sounded very good with Fender's V-mod pickups right out of the box. After conferring with friends, videos, and reviews I decided to make it a "Super Tele" by replacing the V-mods with the Fishman Koch Fluence set. I mostly use both Fender Deluxe Reverb and Princeton amplifiers and numerous effects. Hands down - these pickups are the clearest, smoothest and good sounding pickups I've ever had. The six tone options add to the appeal. (I have Strats, Les Pauls, PRS and Gretsch guitars in my arsenal (28 in total - another story). In any event I agree that there had to be something wrong for them to not work out for you. They are simply too magnificent to get anywhere near the "suck" description. They are extraordinarily expensive but I do think they carve out a sound niche my other guitars (including two other Teles) don't have. They're well worth the money in my view. Incidentally I also have a Fender Thinline Telecaster - based on the 1969 version in which I placed Seymour Duncan STR-1 (Rhythm) and STL-1b (Treble) pickups (for a Broadcaster-type sound). They too are worth looking at - very different sound than the fluence pickups - but that's what I wanted - variation. Good stuff!
