California, no basements here.
Also, I miiiight just have "forgotten" to mention that I was running it into a 4x12". Lol. It's just that, with people regularly discussing stuff like the merits of splurging on a triple rec over a single rec - for a BEDROOM amp for nights & weekends only - all over various online communities... Well... Y'know, kinda funny, this.
Just yesterday, was looking up solutions to a hum problem and schematics for a *65-watter*, and the general internet consensus seemed to be that it's just too inherently weak to be worth fixing. And people kept saying that SOOO much in all responses to anybody asking questions about how to fix the bloody hum (or specifically, which # capacitors to examine most closely for routinely failing solder joints), instead of answering the question or moving along already, that I must've read how 65 watts was puny a good 200 times yesterday... So when that today happened it was like - seriously???
On a side note, if I beat the hum, I'm so giving that Marshall Valvestate a speaker out jack mod. Now I'm just honestly curious if a 65-watt hybrid can be much QUIETER than a 5-watt tube, and if not, how far I can turn it up going into a 4x12 before my ears start to bleed. Or the neighbours return.
....OR, if they're similar enough in output, the two of em might just make up a decent stereo rig, each going into half of the Marshall 1960A stereo 4x12. Think it'll have any merit, at least as a curio? Desirable sounds range from hardrock to metal, more in a hair metal maybe power metal sense, less so in a EMG 81 in Triple Rec somethin or other-core sense...
