Fixing an old guitar is almost like getting a new one.

I've had this strat for many years. I put an old MIM neck that had been refinished in nitro, had clay dots put in it, and really plays great onto a 76 Washburn strat body that I believe is basswood. I have a set of Mooretone custom wound pickups in it, and it sounds great, but the past few years its been playing terribly because I never had a case for it, and basically didn't take care of it. This is unusual for me. Well, I got a coffin case for it last year, and tonight I cleaned'er up, yanked the neck and adjusted the truss rod, bridge, etc. She plays and sounds like new now. What a sweet strat. I should have done this years ago, huh?

So you're saying the setup/truss rod bit had been getting worse and worse due to seasonal climate shift.

Excellent!

I've got more than a few that need to go on the bench for resurrection...

:(

Probably. I kept it in the bedroom, which would get steaming hot in the summer. Then we'd put the air on at night. Actually, the first time I ever adjusted a truss on a strat. Bit of a pain, but I luckily got it right on the first shot. Knock on wood, have not had any problems like this with my other guitars, which I keep in their cases.

That's where I am with my ol' #1 tele-- back in action after almost 2 years disassembled and under the stairs in the basement!
