Fixing Cracked Bobbin

Re: Fixing Cracked Bobbin

Ok so my repair wasn't as good as I thought. I gigged er and when I brought it home and opened up the case I found this:

Yeah...plastic isn't anywhere to be seen in the case so I imagine its on stage at the club.

Any ideas on how to combat this now?? And yes I did test and it is still working fine. Although it ain't leaving its case till its fixed!

Re: Fixing Cracked Bobbin

get a toaster cover or an open top cover and a thin piece of pickguard material like some GFS pickups

Re: Fixing Cracked Bobbin

My first thought is a metal cover. I can see if I can find out how you should proceed with this...

Re: Fixing Cracked Bobbin

Thanks everyone! And thanks Mincer, I tweeted SD about this as well just to see what they say. As much as I hate covers, I hate having to replace a working pickup even more!

Re: Fixing Cracked Bobbin

Thanks everyone AGAIN for their input. And special shout out to Mincer who reached out to SD Support on my behalf.

Due to the fact shipping + repair would equal about what a used pickup goes for here, I have decided to go the cover route. I usually don't like em but I also would rather keep an extra $60 in my pocket when its all said and done.

At first I was looking at an open top cover, but I think that's going to still leave some exposed.

QUESTION: What's the pole spacing on a trembucker, and will I need to look specifically for an F spaced cover? I REALLY like the look of the 12 hole Schaller (and if its plastic even better), but don't want to waste my money. Judging by their technical drawings it looks like they have 9.8mm and 10.14mm spacing. Is the 10.14 what I need?

Thanks in advance for your further help. I spent days going through options...repair, make a hybrid with another one I got laying around, making a plastic piece to fit on etc. until I saw these schaller covers!
