fixing neck pocket cracks?

Re: fixing neck pocket cracks?

Are you talking about the cracks in the paint? Because most the time they are only superficial.

Re: fixing neck pocket cracks?

Yeah, it's usually the paint cracking from stress..does'nt affect anything.

Re: fixing neck pocket cracks?

What kramersteen says is very common. However if the crack is in the wood, then it is wide, you normally treat it with strong wood glue and applying pressure to both sides, if it is tiny you just pour some thin super glue into the crack and press for some minutes (if possible).

Re: fixing neck pocket cracks?

I would not use super glue on wood

But that's just me

Elmers wood glue or Titebond

Re: fixing neck pocket cracks?

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I know about the superficial paint cracks. These look alittle more serious, so Im pretty certain that its into the wood. I would be using Elmer's wood glue. Just wanted to make sure there isnt another remedy I hadnt thought of.. Thank you!

I think i would have refinished at least 5 guitars that had cracks around the neck pocket. And Every time its only been the paint. maybe just take the neck off and have a good look.

But yeah titebond is the go if it has got a crack.

Re: fixing neck pocket cracks?

If the crack is wide enough to get glue in, put glue in. If it isn't wide enough, don't worry about it.
