Floyd Big Blocks

I know of only 2 companies that sell these Big Blocks which are Floyd Upgrades and Killer Guitar Componets and I was wondering if anybody has tried blocks from both companies? I own a block from Floyd upgrades and never played with the stock block because when I built my guitar I had planed to install it. I wanted to know if anybody could give a comparison or some feed back from the quality of both companies blocks. I saw the other thread about KCG letting people test their blocks and thats what made me look them up. I have to say some of their products look to be maybe better then the other companies but looks arent everything.

Any product from their sites if you have used them please let me know how your experience was with them.

Re: Floyd Big Blocks

i saw a forum where one guy tried them both. his conclusion was that a KGC block gave a little improvement over FU block.
you can search the web to find this page

Re: Floyd Big Blocks

Can't comment on the FU and KGC Floyd blocks, but there's an oversized Floyd Rose branded brass block. Bought one a year ago but never installed it.

I do have a KGC for a Gotoh 1055, nice block but was far better to upgrade to the 510TS.

Re: Floyd Big Blocks

guitar fetish also do big brass blocks and also steel ones which are my preference. I find brass dulls the attack too much in comparison

Re: Floyd Big Blocks

I have purchased some from a seller on ebay. cant find the link. Ive had great luck with those and the prices are great. I have used the KGC unit too and thiers are more refined and I like the spring retainer bar they offer, so I am going to purchase my next one from KGC.
Im sure FU makes a great product too and they are top notch.

Re: Floyd Big Blocks

I have a 32mm brass big block from Floyd Upgrades, and it's nice. It's warm and fat sounding, with a bit less snap and bite than the steel blocks. It's well-made and good for what it is.

I would like to have a steel one with a lot of mass, though, and the spring retainer bar is a great idea that I really like from the Ibanez Edge.

Re: Floyd Big Blocks

I've reviewed both, and they are great. The KGC are more expensive, but a lot more work, which is beneficial to the use of the bridge.
